Northbound traffic between Newnham Court Roundabout and M20 Junction 7 will be closed overnight for essential infrastructure works.
National Highways will carry out planned maintenance works on the A249 northbound carriageway this weekend, requiring a full closure to ensure the safety of workers and road users. The closure affects the stretch between Newnham Court Roundabout and M20 Junction 7, specifically the London-bound slip road.
The road will be closed from 20:00 on Saturday 28 March until 06:00 on Sunday 29 March. This overnight closure allows National Highways to complete essential works with minimal disruption to daytime traffic. Diversion routes will be clearly signposted on the night.
Northbound traffic wishing to access M20 Junction 7 during the closure should use alternative routes via A249 Bearsted Road, A249 Sittingbourne Road and surrounding roads. Drivers are advised to allow extra time for their journeys and consider alternative routes where possible. The diversion will be fully signposted, but travellers are encouraged to plan ahead and check road conditions before travelling.
Emergency services will maintain access throughout the closure period. Kent County Council and National Highways apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank residents for their patience whilst these essential works are completed.
