Buses will replace trains between Herne Bay and Ramsgate from Friday 3 to Monday 6 April as Network Rail carries out essential track replacement work.
Most of Southeastern Railway’s network will operate normally over the Easter weekend, but passengers travelling to or from the Kent coast must plan ahead due to planned engineering works affecting the line between Herne Bay and Ramsgate. The closure runs across all four days of the extended bank holiday period, with accessible replacement buses serving the affected stations throughout.
Three main routes will be impacted by the engineering work. The Sole Street Line from London Victoria to Ramsgate via Chatham will only run as far as Herne Bay, with buses continuing the journey onwards. The Highspeed services via Gravesend from London St Pancras will also terminate at Herne Bay, with some off-peak trains between Faversham and St Pancras not running on Saturday 4 April and Monday 6 April. The Highspeed route via Ashford International to Margate continues to Ramsgate.
Replacement buses will operate between Herne Bay and Ramsgate calling at all stations, with additional services stopping at Birchington-on-Sea, Margate and Broadstairs. Off-peak fares will apply all day on Good Friday 3 April and Easter Monday 6 April, helping to reduce travel costs for passengers. Southeastern advises all passengers to check their journeys using the National Rail Enquiries Journey Planner before travelling, as timetables vary across the four-day period.
