Kent County Council has imposed mandatory 20mph speed limits on A256 Haine Road and B2050 Manston Road in Ramsgate to allow essential works.
Residents travelling through Ramsgate should be aware of new traffic restrictions now in effect on A256 Haine Road and B2050 Manston Road. A mandatory 20mph speed limit has been imposed on A256 Haine Road from A254 Pearce Signs Roundabout to the junction of A256 New Haine Road to allow drainage works to be carried out. The restrictions came into force from 16th February 2026 and are expected to continue for up to 156 days or until works are completed.
A prohibition of right turn has also been put in place at two locations on A256 Haine Road: from Westwood Cross car park and from the junction of Star Lane Link. Drivers heading through this area should use the alternative routes clearly signposted at the time.
On B2050 Manston Road, a 20mph speed limit has been introduced from the junction of Manston Court Road to the bend as part of a wider carriageway patching and preservation programme across Thanet. This restriction is part of Kent County Council’s 18-month maintenance scheme which began on 5th January 2026.
Planned works dates will be published in advance of works commencing, with signage displayed on site 14 days before work begins. Road closures and restrictions will only be in effect when appropriate signage and barriers are in place on site.
