Our Mission
Kent Local News exists to provide independent, impartial and high-quality local journalism for the people of Kent. We believe every community deserves access to reliable, well-researched reporting on the issues that shape daily life — from public safety and healthcare to council decisions, transport and the local economy.
We are committed to publishing accurate, balanced and fair news coverage without political bias, commercial influence or editorial interference. Our reporting is driven by the public interest and guided by a responsibility to serve our readers with honesty and integrity.
We publish in-depth, original journalism that goes beyond headlines. Every article is independently researched and verified using authoritative sources including official bodies, public records, expert commentary and first-hand accounts. We do not republish press releases without scrutiny, and we clearly distinguish between news reporting, analysis and opinion.
Kent Local News is free to read, with no paywall or subscription barrier. We believe local journalism should be accessible to everyone, regardless of income. Our mission is to keep Kent’s residents informed, hold local institutions to account, and give a voice to the communities we serve.

AI-Produced Video, Human-Led Journalism
Kent Local News operates what we believe is the world’s first fully AI-produced YouTube news channel publishing original, independently press-regulated journalism. Every video on @KentLocalNews is produced end-to-end by an automated AI pipeline — script, presenter, voice and visuals are all AI-generated.
The journalism underneath the video pipeline is human-led and Impress-regulated. Articles are researched, sourced, fact-checked and corrected against the Impress Standards Code before any AI video is generated from them. AI handles the production layer; editorial judgement and accountability stay with the newsroom.
The current landscape of AI news on YouTube falls into two camps: B2B infrastructure providers that license AI production tools to broadcasters rather than publishing journalism themselves, and unregulated channels that have been documented producing AI-generated misinformation. In March 2026 the Atlantic Council’s Digital Forensic Research Lab (DFRLab) identified more than twenty active YouTube channels using synthetic anchors and AI-generated visuals to publish fabricated news, with close to two billion combined views.
Kent Local News is, to our knowledge, the only YouTube news channel where the entire production pipeline is AI and the underlying journalism is original, locally reported, and regulated by a Press Recognition Panel–recognised regulator. The point of the channel is to show what responsible AI news looks like when the people behind it are accountable to the same standards as any human-staffed newsroom.
If you spot an error in any AI-produced video — or in any article — please see our Corrections & Clarifications log and Complaints Procedure. The same regulatory standards apply to both written and video content.
