Twenty-six drivers have been given Community Protection Warnings after residents reported a group racing on Shepherds Lane, Dartford, as police and Dartford Borough Council target antisocial driving hotspots.
Kent Police said a patrol was alerted by residents on Friday 11 September 2026 to a group of drivers racing on Shepherds Lane. Officers attended, gathered evidence and dispersed those present.
Working with Dartford Borough Council, police then issued 26 Community Protection Warnings to drivers identified as being in the area.
The warnings require those 26 people to comply with the conditions of Dartford’s Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO). If they do not, they will receive a Community Protection Notice, and breaching that notice can lead to a fine or other legal action.
The PSPO bars people from coming into the Dartford area to race cars or to watch vehicles race, and also prohibits revving engines, performing stunts and making excessive noise.
Throughout September, marked and unmarked police cars have patrolled known nuisance-driving hotspots, including Bob Dunn Way, University Way and Crossways Boulevard.
Inspector Jamie Little said: “This is an excellent example of our heightened vigilance and presence that will hopefully bring comfort to local residents.” He urged residents to report car meets or antisocial driving immediately, “as this will allow us to respond in a timely manner and catch them in the act.”
Cllr Jeremy Kite, Leader of Dartford Borough Council, said: “Residents have every right to enjoy their homes and neighbourhoods without being disturbed by racing cars, excessive noise, and antisocial behaviour. Our message is simple: Dartford is not a race track.”
