Donington Park (National) Race 3

Ashley Sutton claimed victory in the third race of the British Touring Car Championship weekend at Donington Park on 19th April, completing a dominant performance to secure his second win of the 2026 season. The four-time champion crossed the line in 20 minutes 51.143 seconds, ahead of Tom Ingram in second place and Ricky Collard rounding out the podium in third position.

Starting from eighth position on the reverse grid after drawing the number eight ball himself, Sutton faced a challenging task from the fourth row. However, the NAPA Racing UK driver made exceptional use of the Goodyear soft tyre compound and his renowned racecraft to systematically work through the field. Collard had established himself as the early race leader, but Sutton’s relentless progress eventually brought him into contention for the victory. The decisive moment came when Sutton executed a crucial overtaking manoeuvre to slip past the long-time leader, securing what marked his 300th race in the championship in memorable fashion. Ingram maintained consistent pace throughout to secure second place, finishing 2.188 seconds behind the winner, whilst Collard held onto the final podium position despite losing the lead, crossing the line 7.218 seconds adrift of Sutton’s winning time.

The midfield battle produced notable performances from several drivers, with Aiden Moffat securing fourth position after a solid drive that saw him finish 9.041 seconds behind the race winner. Moffat’s consistent pace throughout the encounter demonstrated strong racecraft as he maintained his position in the top five. Charles Rainford completed the top five finishers, crossing the line 9.884 seconds behind Sutton’s winning time, capping off a competitive performance that showcased the depth of talent in the championship field.

Sutton’s victory reinforces his strong start to the 2026 campaign, with two wins from the opening weekend establishing significant momentum for both driver and team. The triumph at Donington Park demonstrates the continued competitiveness of NAPA Racing UK’s package, particularly when combined with Sutton’s tactical acumen and ability to maximise tyre performance. The championship field will now prepare for the next round of competition, where the established frontrunners will face fresh challenges as the season develops.
