Dover District Council has confirmed free parking for Christmas events in Deal on 21 November, Sandwich on 28 November and Dover on 5 December, plus two free hours across the district on Small Business Saturday.
Dover District Council has confirmed the dates for free parking across a series of Christmas and small business events this winter, following a Cabinet decision taken in September.
When parking is free
Free parking in council-owned off-street car parks will be available from 3pm on each of the following Christmas event days, in the town where the event takes place:
- Saturday 21 November: Deal, for the Deal Town Christmas Light Switch On
- Saturday 28 November: Sandwich, for the Sandwich Christmas Lights Switch On
- Saturday 5 December: Dover, for Dover’s Winter Lantern Festival
The council is also supporting national Small Business Saturday on 5 December with two consecutive hours of free parking across all its off-street car parks in the district. Motorists who stay longer pay only for the additional time. In Dover, the two free hours run between 8am and 3pm, after which the Christmas event free parking takes over.
What the offer does not cover
The concessions apply only to council-owned off-street car parks. Normal on-street restrictions and all other parking conditions continue to apply. The Christmas event day free parking applies only in the town hosting that event, not across the district as a whole.
