Podium

Marc Márquez claimed victory in the Indonesian Grand Prix Sprint Race at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit on Lombok island on Saturday, 10 October 2026, the seventeenth round of the MotoGP World Championship season. The Ducati Lenovo Team rider crossed the line in a time of 19 minutes 37.125 seconds, with Ai Ogura of Trackhouse Racing finishing 0.509 seconds adrift in second place. Fabio Di Giannantonio of the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team completed the podium a further 0.326 seconds back.
Jorge Martín, riding for Aprilia Racing, made a remarkable start from fifth on the grid to assume the lead and build an advantage of more than 1.5 seconds over the chasing pack. However, with five laps remaining, a tyre pressure issue forced Martín to relinquish the lead to Márquez, and a subsequent error dropped him further down the order to finish fourth, 1.947 seconds behind the winner. Ogura maintained a composed pursuit throughout, ultimately securing second place by less than half a second, whilst Di Giannantonio held firm in third to give the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team a place on the rostrum. Álex Márquez of BK8 Gresini Racing rounded out the top five, finishing 3.410 seconds behind his brother.

Pedro Acosta delivered a solid result for Red Bull KTM Factory Racing, crossing the line in sixth place, 5.478 seconds off the pace. Fermín Aldeguer, Acosta’s counterpart at BK8 Gresini Racing, secured seventh, a further 1.558 seconds in arrears. Francesco Bagnaia endured a difficult afternoon for the Ducati Lenovo Team, managing only eighth place and finishing over ten seconds behind his team-mate Márquez. The Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP pairing of Fabio Quartararo and Alex Rins rounded out the top ten in ninth and tenth respectively, separated by just over three seconds at the flag.
The result carries significant championship implications for Márquez, who, according to the official race data, assumed the lead of the MotoGP World Championship standings for the first time in the 2026 season, moving four points clear of Martín. The victory underlines the strength of the Ducati Lenovo Team’s challenge as the season enters its closing stages, with Márquez demonstrating the ability to capitalise on a rival’s misfortune whilst maintaining the composure required to convert a late opportunity into a race win. Marco Bezzecchi and Raúl Fernández were both classified as non-finishers. The MotoGP World Championship continues at the next scheduled round of the 2026 season.
