Marc Márquez claimed victory at the 2026 Motul Grand Prix of Japan on Sunday, 4 October, delivering a commanding performance at Mobility Resort Motegi in Tochigi Prefecture to complete a flawless weekend double. The Ducati Lenovo Team rider crossed the line in 41 minutes and 31.467 seconds, with Jorge Martín of Aprilia Racing finishing 1.363 seconds adrift in second place. Marco Bezzecchi, also representing Aprilia Racing, completed the podium in third, a further 0.889 seconds behind his team-mate.

Martín led from pole position through the opening ten laps, only for Márquez to execute a decisive pass on the inside on lap eleven that proved to be the defining moment of the race. From that point, the Ducati Lenovo Team rider was not headed, ultimately establishing a margin of 1.363 seconds over Martín at the flag. Behind the leading pair, Bezzecchi was pressed hard in the closing stages by Enea Bastianini of Red Bull KTM Tech3, who ultimately fell short by just 0.078 seconds, finishing fourth at 2.330 seconds from the winner. The result carries significant championship implications: Márquez’s victory has reduced Martín’s lead in the 2026 World Championship standings to a mere two points, with six rounds of the season remaining.

Further down the order, Raúl Fernández delivered a solid afternoon for Trackhouse Racing, crossing the line fifth at 14.815 seconds, with team-mate Ai Ogura following closely in sixth, 15.210 seconds behind Márquez. The result represented a productive double-points finish for Trackhouse Racing. Pedro Acosta brought his Red Bull KTM Factory Racing machine home in seventh at 16.928 seconds, while Francesco Bagnaia — Márquez’s Ducati Lenovo Team colleague — recovered to eighth, finishing 20.333 seconds off the pace in what was a difficult afternoon for the reigning champion’s team-mate.

Márquez’s victory at Mobility Resort Motegi underlines the momentum he and the Ducati Lenovo Team have built as the 2026 season enters its final phase. Having secured both the sprint and the grand prix at the same venue, the Spaniard has dramatically closed the gap to championship leader Martín, setting up what promises to be an intensely contested run-in. Aprilia Racing, meanwhile, can take encouragement from a double podium finish, with both Martín and Bezzecchi demonstrating the competitiveness of their machinery. The MotoGP World Championship now moves on to its next round, where the battle at the summit of the standings is expected to intensify further.
