The day in Kent · A man has been charged with murder following a fatal stabbing near Ramsgate harbour, bringing a formal legal process to one of the most serious violent incidents in Kent this year. Kieran O’Rourke, 21, faces charges of murder, attempted murder and grievous bodily harm with intent after the death of Ashley Jones, 52. Elsewhere, a community protection window has opened over the future of Betteshanger Country Park near Deal, giving local groups until December 2027 to mount a bid for the former colliery site.
