Kent Police release CCTV images after reported distraction theft in Maidstone

Week Street in Maidstone town centre, Kent

A man in his 80s had his bank card taken and a large cash withdrawal made from his account after visiting a bank in Week Street, according to Kent Police, who are now asking the public to help identify two men caught on camera.

Kent Police released CCTV images on Tuesday of two men they want to speak to in connection with a reported distraction theft in Maidstone town centre. The incident was reported at around 9.30am on 30 June 2026 — the victim, a pensioner in his 80s, had visited Lloyds TSB in Week Street and used a cash machine.

Two men were nearby at the time. One stood by the main door. Another used an ATM while the pensioner was at the bank. He walked afterwards to a shop in The Mall shopping centre, where he noticed his bank card was missing. A large cash withdrawal had already gone through.

Officers have completed their initial enquiries and are now asking the public to help put names to the faces in the footage.

Anyone who recognises the men, or who was in the Week Street area at around 9.30am on 30 June 2026, is asked to get in touch.
