Abdul Qudus Odushoga, 23, was sentenced at Maidstone Crown Court on 18 August 2026 after pleading guilty to controlling and coercive behaviour, two assaults and intentional strangulation against a woman at her Faversham home.
Odushoga, of Hardel Walk, London, spent months putting the woman through physical, financial and psychological abuse at her own home. He pushed her through a wardrobe into a wall, slapped and bit her — leaving visible marks — and threw a shopping trolley at her that narrowly missed. When she tried to get out on one occasion, he grabbed her by the neck, dragged her back inside and held her so tightly she choked.
It was that assault that prompted her to call police. And when Odushoga realised she had, he attacked her again — trying to strangle her and repeatedly smashing her head against a metal cabinet and the floor. He fled before officers arrived. He was arrested later that afternoon.
The violence wasn’t the whole of it. He demanded money from the victim, took it straight from her purse when she refused, and forced her to buy him expensive clothes and cover taxis and food. She ended up relying on friends and family just to get by.
Detective Sergeant Ellen Compton, the investigating officer, described it as a “relentless pattern of abuse” that left the victim living in fear. She said the victim had shown courage in coming forward and supporting the investigation, and that Odushoga is now held accountable and no longer able to cause further harm.
He had pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing. Three years. Maidstone Crown Court, 18 August 2026.
