Man airlifted to London hospital after A28 collision near Bethersden

A man in his 30s was in a critical condition after a collision between a BMW and a JCB lift truck on the A28 Ashford Road near Bethersden on the evening of 13 August 2026.

Kent Police were called to the stretch of A28 Ashford Road between the Kiln Lane and Bethersden Road junctions at 9.41pm on Thursday 13 August 2026. A blue BMW 218I Sport heading towards Bethersden came into collision with a yellow JCB lift truck travelling the other way. The BMW’s driver — a man in his 30s — was airlifted to a London hospital and remained in a critical condition. His next of kin have been informed.

Officers attended alongside South East Coast Ambulance Service and Kent Fire and Rescue Service. Kent Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit has since opened an investigation.

Police want to hear from anyone who saw the crash, or spotted either vehicle in the area beforehand. Dashcam footage from the A28 near Bethersden that evening is also being sought. The appeal was issued on 14 August 2026 under reference XX/HG/65/26.
