Man arrested and power tools recovered after reports of suspicious activity at Gravesend car park

A 27-year-old man from Gravesend has been arrested and a quantity of power tools recovered after officers were called to a car park on Wrotham Road in the early hours of Tuesday 25 August 2026.

Kent Police received reports of men acting suspiciously and allegedly attempting to gain access to vehicles at the Wrotham Road car park at about 11.30pm on Monday 24 August 2026. Officers attended, searched the area and located a suspect.

The man, aged 27 and from Gravesend, was arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods, going equipped for theft, attempted theft of a motor vehicle and interfering with a motor vehicle, according to a summary of Kent Police information published by UKNIP. He has since been released on bail while enquiries continue.

A quantity of power tools and associated equipment was recovered nearby, according to the same source. The recovered items are reported to include a reciprocating saw, battery chargers, cables and a tool bag. The exact number of items and their total value have not been confirmed by Kent Police.
