Teenage motorcyclist dies in Whitstable collision as police seek witnesses

An 18-year-old man died at the scene of a crash on Chestfield Road on 24 July 2026 after his motorcycle collided with a white Mercedes A180, and an 18-year-old man has since been arrested in connection with the incident.

An 18-year-old motorcyclist died on Chestfield Road, Whitstable, shortly before 8.15pm on Friday 24 July 2026. The crash happened outside the Chestfield Barn pub — involving his motorcycle and a white Mercedes A180. His next of kin has been informed.

Later that evening, at 9.50pm, an 18-year-old man walked into Canterbury police station voluntarily and was arrested in connection with the incident. He remains in custody. The motorcycle has not yet been recovered.

It was reported that a man who had been travelling in the car rode the motorcycle away from the area following the collision. Enquiries to establish the full circumstances are ongoing.

Police published their appeal at 14:36 on Saturday 25 July 2026. They want anyone who saw what happened — or who has dashcam, doorbell or mobile footage of either vehicle before or after the crash — to get in touch.
