A 13-year-old boy and a 60-year-old man were arrested in Victoria Gardens, Broadstairs, on the evening of 22 July 2026, as Kent Police used dispersal powers 15 times and conducted 10 stop searches during a disturbance at a community event.
Kent Police made two arrests and repeatedly dispersed groups after antisocial behaviour flared near the bandstand in Victoria Gardens, Broadstairs, during a community event on the evening of Wednesday 22 July 2026. Officers used dispersal powers on 15 separate occasions across the evening — moving on groups and individuals whose behaviour was causing problems.
A 13-year-old boy was arrested following reports of an assault. Officers have since spoken to his parents as part of an ongoing investigation. A 60-year-old man was also arrested the same evening for failing to appear at court.
Ten stop searches were carried out during the operation. A small quantity of cannabis was seized and two community resolutions issued.
Thanet Inspector Richard Batten said officers would “continue to tackle antisocial behaviour head on in Thanet” and confirmed that high-visibility patrols will remain in place across the district for the rest of the summer.
