Dzmitry Danilah and Klodian Marku were sentenced at Canterbury Crown Court on 9 September 2026 after Folkestone Neighbourhood Task Force officers stopped an HGV on the A20 and found cocaine blocks with an estimated street value of more than £2 million in carrier bags inside the trailer, according to Kent Police.
Danilah, 36, a Belarusian national of no fixed address, received nine years. Marku, 25, an Albanian national of South Lambeth Road, Vauxhall, London, received eight. Both were charged with and sentenced for being concerned in the importation of cocaine.
It started with a parked van. At around 10am on 21 May 2026, Folkestone Neighbourhood Task Force officers spotted a Renault Kangoo sitting in a layby on the A20. On the back seat: a cash counter. While they were investigating the van, a nearby HGV started to pull away. Officers followed it and pulled it over.
Inside the trailer, carrier bags had been placed on top of the freight — and inside those bags, nearly 50kg of cocaine in block form, with an estimated street value of more than £2 million, according to Kent Police. A second man was arrested as he attempted to flee from the back of the lorry, where he had been hiding. When detained and searched, the keys to the Renault Kangoo were found in his pocket.
Detective Constable Molly Harrington, the investigating officer, called it an “extremely large seizure” and said the result was “based entirely on the keen eye and intuition of our local officers.” Disrupting drugs at this scale, she added, “will have a significant impact on those behind this organised crime” and would “help prevent harm in our communities.”
