Founded in Maidstone in 2016 as L&L Creative Spaces, the Biddenden company now designs, builds and installs play spaces for schools, SEN settings and attractions across the UK.
A Kent company that designs and builds children’s playgrounds is marking 10 years in business, a decade after its two founders started it from a garden office in Maidstone.
Everyday Play was set up in 2016 by Luke Savage and Lewis Walsh. Companies House records show the company was incorporated on 2 August 2016 as L&L Creative Spaces Limited and changed its name to Everyday Play Limited in January 2024. It is now based at Golden Fleece Barn in Biddenden, near Ashford.
From drawing to installation
The company says it now keeps the whole process in-house. It set up its own design team in 2018 and opened a manufacturing workshop in Bedford in 2023, and its own teams install the finished equipment on site. It moved into its Biddenden offices in 2024.
Its work ranges from school and nursery playgrounds to sensory gardens and inclusive play spaces for SEN schools, and bespoke pieces for visitor attractions. At Wingham Wildlife Park, near Canterbury, it has built towers, tunnels, slides, a castle-themed climbing structure and mini golf, as well as a safari jeep, a boat and a tuk-tuk.
In 2024 the company won the Best Stand Award at The Education People Show.
‘Some pretty big ideas’
“Ten years ago, we were working from a garden office with a small team and some pretty big ideas,” the founders said. “To look at the business today and see our own designers, workshop, craftsmen and installation teams taking a project from the first drawing all the way through to children playing on it is something we’re incredibly proud of.”
“But the best part is always seeing the finished space being used,” they added.
The company says it also sponsors grassroots football and has donated playground equipment to schools.
