Jack Dallas, 25, of Trinity Road, Gillingham, was sentenced to eight years and three months at Maidstone Crown Court after admitting he entered a pensioner’s home with two associates, held a zombie knife to the man’s throat and punched him repeatedly.
Dallas and two masked associates broke into a house near Begonia Avenue, Twydall on the evening of 9 January 2026, demanding the victim — a man in his 70s — tell them where he kept his cash. All three wore ski-masks. One held a zombie knife to the pensioner’s throat and punched him several times, leaving him with facial cuts and bruises, before the group fled.
Dallas left something behind. Forensic officers recovered DNA from a mark on the doorway, matched it to him, and he was arrested on 19 March in possession of cocaine. He was subsequently charged with aggravated burglary and possession of a class A drug. He admitted both offences at Maidstone Crown Court and was sentenced on Friday 24 July. After becoming eligible for parole, he will remain on licence for a further three years and four months.
DC Harry Groves, the investigating officer, said: “Dallas’s victim was not only brutally harmed by these callous criminals, but he has also been left terrified in his own home and the impact on him will be long lasting. Dallas and his associates are despicable cowards who chose to target a vulnerable victim who would be unable to fight back. It is only right that one of them has been tracked down and is now serving a lengthy prison sentence. I hope this knowledge can give his victim some form of closure.”
