A man spotted acting suspiciously on the streets of Gravesend has been jailed for three years and four months after officers found cocaine hidden in a matchbox in his underwear — and discovered he had given them a false name backed by a fake driving licence. Vilson Rexhep, a 29-year-old Albanian national of Norman Road, Tunbridge Wells, was sentenced at Maidstone Crown Court on 26 August 2026 after pleading guilty to being concerned in the supply of class A drugs and possessing identity documents with intent.
Officers on proactive patrol first spotted Rexhep in Parrock Street on 9 June 2026, walking the same route repeatedly and glancing back over his shoulder at them. He later appeared in Brandon Street, where he met another man. The two appeared unfamiliar with each other and kept checking their surroundings. Both men were stopped on suspicion a drug deal was under way. Rexhep gave a false name and produced a fake driving licence. Further checks established his true identity.
The cocaine was found on him. His phone provided further evidence: records showed he was dealing for a supply network known as the “Eddie” drugs line.
PC James Heaver, the investigating officer, said: “Rexhep was identified because officers on proactive patrol recognised behaviour that was clearly suspicious and acted swiftly to investigate. Drug dealers bring misery to our communities and profit from the exploitation of vulnerable people. We will continue to utilise our resources and enforcement activity to identify offenders, disrupt drug networks and bring those responsible before the courts.”
