Isle of Grain wildfire largely extinguished after overnight operation

A wildfire near West Lane on the Isle of Grain has been largely extinguished following an overnight operation by Kent Fire and Rescue Service. Crews were continuing to dampen down remaining hotspots at the time of the service’s update.

According to local reporting, ten fire engines attended the incident alongside a bulk water carrier and an all-terrain vehicle. Residents were advised to keep windows and doors shut due to smoke from the blaze.

The cause of the fire has not been confirmed. No injuries have been reported.
