Kent Fire and Rescue lifts smoke warning after fatal Hamstreet house fire

Kent Fire and Rescue Service has confirmed the fire at a semi-detached house on Admiral Way, Hamstreet, near Ashford, is out and that residents are no longer advised to keep windows and doors closed.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) posted an update on social media confirming the blaze had been extinguished and that the precautionary smoke warning had been lifted. The service asked members of the public to share the update with anyone in the affected area who may not have internet access.

One child died at the scene. A second child and an adult were taken to hospital, according to KFRS. Three firefighters sustained minor injuries during the operation and were later discharged from hospital. Six fire engines and an aerial ladder platform attended the incident, with Kent Police closing roads around Admiral Way while firefighters worked to extinguish what KFRS described as an “intense fire”. South East Coast Ambulance Service also attended.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation and has not been publicly confirmed by KFRS or any other authority.
