Man dies after being struck by HGV on M2 near Medway Services

A man in his 50s was pronounced dead at the scene after being struck by a heavy goods vehicle and other vehicles on the coastbound M2 near Medway Services on Tuesday night, with the carriageway remaining closed two days later.

Kent Police was called at around 9.10pm on Tuesday 27 October 2026 following a serious collision on the coastbound carriageway of the M2 near Medway Services. A man in his 50s, described by police as a local resident, was on foot in the carriageway when he was struck by a red MAN heavy goods vehicle and other vehicles. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin has been informed.

The coastbound carriageway remains closed between Junction 3, which serves Chatham and the Bluebell Hill area, and Junction 5, which serves Stockbury, Maidstone and Sittingbourne. National Highways said the carriageway required resurfacing before it could reopen. The London-bound carriageway, which had previously been closed between Junctions 5 and 4, has since reopened. Drivers are advised to use alternative routes.
