Kent Police are investigating after a member of the public discovered the remains of a number of deceased puppies in a field in Detling on 10 August 2026, with officers later locating several further shallow burial sites at the same location.
The find was made at around 3.10pm on Monday 10 August 2026, in a field close to the Detling Community Store and Post Office on Pilgrims Way. Officers who attended the scene uncovered several further shallow burial sites in the same field. A full police investigation is now under way.
Detective Inspector Tristan Stevens called it “deeply upsetting,” and said investigators are working with partner agencies to establish what happened and how the animals ended up there.
Kent Police put out their public appeal on 4 September 2026. Anyone who knows anything about the animals, or how they came to be in that field, is asked to come forward. Residents nearby should also check their CCTV for anything relevant.
