Man dies in collision on Chestfield Road, Whitstable

Kent Police are investigating a fatal collision involving a car and a van on Chestfield Road, Whitstable, on the evening of 24 July 2026, and are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage.

A man in his 50s died after a collision between a blue Skoda Octavia and a silver Renault panel van on Chestfield Road, near the A2990 Thanet Way, Whitstable, shortly before 8.15pm on Friday 24 July 2026, according to Kent Police. The driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the van was taken to hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening, according to BBC News and ITV News Meridian.

Kent Police posted an appeal for witnesses on Friday evening, confirming the force is investigating the collision and asking anyone with information to come forward.

The force’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit is leading the inquiry, according to ITV News Meridian. Officers are seeking witnesses who were in the area at the time, as well as dashcam footage or CCTV that may help establish the circumstances of the crash.

The collision occurred on the A2990 Thanet Way corridor near Chestfield, in the Canterbury district.
