NVIDIA and LG Group Deepen Global Partnership on AI Infrastructure, Physical AI and Robotics

LG Group Chairman Kwang-mo Koo visits NVIDIA’s Silicon Valley headquarters as the two companies expand collaboration across AI factories, humanoid robots, autonomous driving and data centre technologies.

Picture a factory floor where no human hand touches the production line. Robots move with purpose, guided by AI systems trained in vast digital simulations. Engineers test layouts and safety protocols in a virtual replica of the plant before a single bolt is shifted in the real world. That is the future NVIDIA and LG Group are building together — and this month, the two companies signalled they’re moving faster than ever.

On 13 August 2026, NVIDIA posted to social media welcoming LG Group Chairman Kwang-mo Koo and senior LG leaders to its Silicon Valley headquarters, describing the visit as the start of “the next chapter” of their collaboration. The post pointed to expanded work across AI infrastructure, physical AI and robotics — broad terms that, in practice, cover everything from humanoid robots on factory floors to AI systems embedded in the car dashboard in front of you.

This wasn’t a first meeting. Jensen Huang, NVIDIA’s founder and CEO, and Chairman Koo had already sat down together at LG Twin Towers in Yeouido, Seoul, earlier in 2026, where both sides committed to co-developing robots on NVIDIA’s Isaac GR00T platform and building AI data centres using NVIDIA’s DSX reference designs. The August visit to NVIDIA’s headquarters is a follow-up — a deepening, not a beginning.

An AI Factory Built for the Real World

The centrepiece of the partnership is an ambitious plan to convert all 29 of LG Electronics’ manufacturing plants worldwide into what both companies call “AI factories.” Using NVIDIA Omniverse, LG’s engineers will build detailed digital twins of each facility — virtual replicas accurate enough to test robot movements, production line layouts and safety systems in simulation before anything changes on the actual factory floor.

LG has over 60 years of manufacturing experience. The plan is to layer NVIDIA’s AI and robotics tools on top of that foundation, rather than replace it. The NVIDIA Isaac platform — which includes Isaac GR00T, a general-purpose physical AI model designed for humanoid robots — will power LG’s next generation of robotics products, including its LG CLOiD home robot line.

It’s a big bet. And it spans the whole LG group, not just electronics.

LG Uplus and LG CNS are working with NVIDIA reference designs for AI data centres. LG CNS is also developing PhysicalWorks, an industrial robotics platform built on NVIDIA’s infrastructure. LG Energy Solution, which makes batteries for electric vehicles and energy storage systems, is collaborating with NVIDIA on high-voltage power systems suited to the enormous energy demands of AI infrastructure.

Training the Brain Behind the Machines

None of this works without the AI models themselves. LG AI Research intends to train its Exaone large-scale AI model using NVIDIA’s latest Blackwell-class GPU architecture — the chips that currently sit at the top of NVIDIA’s data centre product line. NVIDIA has been widely identified in financial and technology press as the world’s largest AI chipmaker, and LG’s adoption of Blackwell-class hardware positions the South Korean conglomerate as one of its most major customers.

Physical AI — NVIDIA’s term for AI systems embedded in machines that sense and act in the real world — is the thread running through all of this. It covers the humanoid robots assembling products in a factory, the autonomous vehicle managing a motorway, and the home robot that might one day fetch your shopping from the kitchen worktop.

On the mobility side, LG is combining its in-vehicle infotainment systems with NVIDIA’s Drive Hyperion autonomous driving platform. The idea is to make vehicles smarter not just in how they drive, but in how they connect passengers to services and information on the move.

Not Everyone Is Cheering

The scale of factory automation at the heart of this partnership raises real questions. Labour unions and workers’ rights advocates have consistently warned that AI-driven manufacturing risks displacing workers or reducing skilled roles to little more than machine supervision. Those concerns don’t disappear simply because the robots are more sophisticated.

Privacy and digital-rights groups have also raised questions about AI systems embedded in home robots and connected vehicles — especially around data collection, who owns that data, and how transparent the AI decision-making actually is.

And some technology analysts point to a broader structural concern: the concentration of AI capability in a handful of companies, NVIDIA chief among them. When so much of the world’s AI infrastructure runs on one firm’s chips, questions of dependency, supply chain resilience and market competition become harder to ignore.

Small and medium-sized businesses face a different kind of challenge. Cloud-based access to NVIDIA platforms could eventually lower the cost of entry, but for now, the most advanced AI factory tools remain within reach of only the largest manufacturers.

What This Means for Kent Residents

There’s no LG or NVIDIA factory in Kent, and no UK-specific deployment has been announced under this partnership. But Kent residents will most likely feel the effects through the products they buy — LG televisions, home appliances, and vehicles fitted with NVIDIA-powered infotainment and driver-assistance systems are already on UK shelves, and this partnership will shape the next generation of those products. For Kent businesses in manufacturing, logistics or healthcare looking at AI and robotics investments, the platforms being refined through the LG–NVIDIA collaboration — digital twins, autonomous robots, AI data centres — represent the direction the industry is heading, and tracking NVIDIA’s and LG’s UK-facing programmes would be a reasonable place to start.
