San Marino Sprint Race

Marc Márquez claimed victory in the San Marino Sprint Race at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli in Misano Adriatico on Saturday, 12 September 2026, to record his sixth sprint win of the 2026 season. The Ducati Lenovo Team rider crossed the line in a total time of 19 minutes 48.519 seconds, with Marco Bezzecchi of Aprilia Racing finishing 1.068 seconds adrift in second place. Championship leader Jorge Martín completed the podium in third, a further 2.470 seconds behind Bezzecchi.

Márquez seized the initiative immediately, taking the holeshot from second on the grid to lead the 13-lap contest from the outset. Bezzecchi, who had set the pace in qualifying by breaking the lap record to secure pole position for Aprilia Racing, mounted a challenge through the middle stages of the race, yet was ultimately unable to find a way past the Ducati Lenovo Team machine. Márquez managed the gap with authority to the flag, eventually prevailing by 1.068 seconds. Martín, for his part, consolidated his championship standing with a composed ride to third, finishing 3.538 seconds behind the winner and keeping himself clear of the chasing pack.

Fabio Di Giannantonio produced a strong showing to take fourth place, crossing the line 3.968 seconds behind Márquez and denying Álex Márquez, who finished fifth at 4.348 seconds, a place in the top four. Pedro Acosta came home sixth, 6.944 seconds off the pace, with Raúl Fernández seventh a further 0.763 seconds back. Fermín Aldeguer rounded out a competitive midfield battle in eighth, finishing 8.832 seconds behind the winner, while Luca Marini and Johann Zarco completed the top ten in ninth and tenth respectively, the latter crossing the line 14.534 seconds adrift of Márquez.

The result represents a significant statement of intent from Márquez and the Ducati Lenovo Team, with a sixth sprint victory of the campaign underlining the Spaniard’s consistency and pace across the 2026 season. Bezzecchi’s second place ensures that Aprilia Racing will take considerable encouragement from the weekend, having led qualifying through a record-breaking lap. Martín’s third place, meanwhile, allows the championship leader to add further points to his tally at a circuit where the margins between the leading contenders remained tight throughout. The MotoGP paddock will now turn its attention to the next round of the 2026 World Championship.
