Sandwich man jailed for 18 years for repeated abuse of victim

A man from Sandwich has been sentenced to 18 years in prison after pleading guilty to rape and sexual assault offences against his victim, Kent Police announced.

Kent Police confirmed the sentence via its official social media account, describing the offender as a rapist from Sandwich who had repeatedly abused the same victim.

Shane Higgins, 37, of Foxborough Close, Sandwich, pleaded guilty at Canterbury Crown Court and was sentenced on 18 September 2026.
