A 17-year-old was arrested within half an hour after a catapult projectile allegedly shattered a car windscreen on Stanhope Road, Ashford, on 20 July 2026 — with three children in the vehicle at the time.
It happened at around 3.30pm on Monday. A driver travelling along Stanhope Road reported that something had allegedly smashed through their windscreen, pulled over, and reported the incident to police. Three children were passengers in the car. Officers attended the area to search for those responsible almost immediately.
Within roughly 30 minutes, a 17-year-old boy was arrested in Otterden Close. Police seized a catapult, a bag of metal ball bearings and a small amount of cannabis.
The teenager was later released on bail, with conditions barring him from returning to the Stanhope area while enquiries continue.
Officers are appealing to anyone with relevant information, who has not yet spoken to police, to come forward.
