Two cyclists named after fatal collision in Cobham
Families have paid tribute to Natasha Lewis, 51, and Steven Anscomb, 60, who died after a car struck a group of three riders on Sole Street in Cobham, near Gravesend, on the morning of 6 September 2026.
Kent Police confirmed that a white Ford Focus collided with three cyclists near the junction of Sole Street and Round Street at about 07:47 on Sunday 6 September 2026. Lewis and Anscomb were pronounced dead at the scene. A third cyclist sustained minor injuries and received hospital treatment.
In a tribute published via the Kent Police press office, Steven Anscomb’s family described him as an “amazing, kind, caring, hardworking dad, friend, and the most amazing husband.” They said the ride had been intended as his final training session before a planned cycling trip to Amsterdam.
Natasha Lewis’s daughter described her mother as an “amazing, thoughtful, and strong woman” for whom exercise was “one of her true loves”, adding that she had “so many more years to experience this life.”
Kent Police confirmed that two men, aged 20 and 21, were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving in connection with the collision. A 19-year-old woman was also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. A 22-year-old man named as Aaron Turner has since been charged with two counts of causing death by dangerous driving and related offences, according to national news reports citing police charging information.
The force’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit is leading the enquiry. Officers have appealed for witnesses and for anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage from the Sole Street and Round Street area at the time of the collision to come forward.
Sole Street was closed while emergency services and collision investigators attended the scene. Villagers and local councillors for the Cobham and Gravesham area have expressed condolences to the families.
