Woodland fire extinguished in Farningham near Dartford

Kent Fire and Rescue Service has put out a fire involving woodland and shrubs in Farningham, close to Dartford, with no injuries reported and the cause not yet established.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service announced on its official social media that crews had extinguished a fire involving woodland and shrubs in Farningham, a village in the Sevenoaks district of north-west Kent. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire remains unknown.

The service confirmed the fire was fully extinguished at the time of posting. No figures for the area burned, the duration of the incident, or the number of appliances attending have been published.

Farningham Wood, a Site of Special Scientific Interest covering around 74.2 hectares east of Swanley, lies in the area surrounding the village. Natural England designates the site for its biological importance to Kent’s biodiversity.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service has responded to several recent woodland fires in the wider Dartford area, including a blaze at Joyden’s Wood on Summerhouse Drive, where two fire engines, a utility terrain vehicle and a wildfire van were deployed and hose reel jets used to extinguish the fire. No injuries were reported in that incident and the cause also remains unknown.
