Podium

Charles Leclerc claimed victory at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone Circuit on 5 July 2026, delivering Ferrari their second win of the season in a tightly contested race that concluded in a time of one hour, 27 minutes and 11.335 seconds. George Russell brought his Mercedes home in second place, just 0.427 seconds adrift, while Leclerc’s Ferrari team-mate Lewis Hamilton completed the podium in third, a further 0.345 seconds behind Russell. Lando Norris finished fourth for McLaren, with Isack Hadjar rounding out the top five for Red Bull.
Leclerc, who started from second on the grid, moved swiftly to the front and held his advantage through to the chequered flag. The most notable charge of the afternoon came from Franco Colapinto, who advanced from nineteenth on the grid to ninth at the finish — a gain of ten positions — earning Alpine F1 Team a valuable two championship points. Liam Lawson also impressed, rising from tenth to sixth for the RB F1 Team, while team-mate Arvid Lindblad climbed two places from ninth to seventh. Gabriel Bortoleto secured eighth for Audi, having started eleventh. The closing stages produced a compelling battle at the front, with Russell closing to within less than half a second of Leclerc at the flag.
George Russell was the highest-finishing British driver on the day, converting a fourth-place grid position into second at the flag. The Mercedes driver maintained consistent pressure on Leclerc throughout the race, ultimately crossing the line just 0.427 seconds behind the winner in what proved a strong performance on home soil. Russell’s result adds 18 points to his championship tally and reinforces his position as a leading contender in the drivers’ standings as the season progresses.
In the drivers’ championship, Andrea Kimi Antonelli of Mercedes retains the lead on 179 points, though his advantage over Russell has been reduced following the latter’s podium finish; Russell now sits second on 154 points, 25 points behind. Lewis Hamilton moves to third on 147 points, with Leclerc climbing to fourth on 108 points following his victory. Lando Norris remains fifth on 97 points. In the constructors’ standings, Mercedes lead on 333 points, with Ferrari closing to 255 points after a strong double points haul at Silverstone. McLaren remain third on 179 points, with Red Bull fourth on 128 points and Alpine F1 Team fifth on 60 points.
