Podium

Ashley Sutton claimed a dominant victory in Race 2 of Round 23 of the 2026 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship at Croft Circuit, Dalton-on-Tees, North Yorkshire, on 6 September 2026. Driving his NAPA Racing UK Ford Focus Titanium, Sutton crossed the line in a time of 21:00.440 to take the top step of the podium. Daniel Rowbottom finished second, 6.073 seconds adrift, with Ricky Collard completing the podium in third, a further 1.092 seconds behind.
Sutton’s victory was built on an audacious opening-lap manoeuvre, executing a move around the outside of pole-sitter Josh Cook at Tower to assume a lead he would not relinquish throughout the contest. Despite operating on the mandatory Goodyear hard tyre compound and running minimal turbo boost, Sutton managed his advantage with authority to the chequered flag. Rowbottom and Collard gave chase but were unable to close the gap meaningfully, finishing 6.073 and 7.165 seconds behind the winner respectively. The result marked Sutton’s 55th career BTCC victory, a milestone that moves him fifth on the championship’s all-time wins list and underlines the strength of the NAPA Racing UK operation at this stage of the season.

Dan Cammish took fourth place, finishing 9.778 seconds behind Sutton, with Charles Rainford crossing the line fifth, 10.856 seconds off the pace. Gordon Shedden secured sixth position, completing a competitive afternoon for the experienced Scotsman, while Daniel Lloyd came home seventh. Tom Chilton rounded out a solid afternoon in eighth, with Aiden Moffat and Mikey Doble completing the top ten in ninth and tenth respectively, the pair separated by less than half a second at the flag.
Sutton’s 55th career win represents a significant personal landmark and provides considerable momentum for the NAPA Racing UK team as the 2026 season progresses through its latter stages. A victory of this nature — achieved on the harder tyre compound and against a field that included the race’s pole-sitter — will only strengthen confidence within the camp heading into the remaining rounds. The championship battle continues to develop, and Sutton’s performance at Croft will ensure he remains a central figure in the title conversation as the series moves to its next venue.
