Kent Fire and Rescue Service to observe two-minute silence on Remembrance Sunday

Staff at Kent Fire and Rescue Service will join the national two-minute silence at 11am on Remembrance Sunday, 8 November 2026, to honour those who served and died in conflicts.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service posted on social media that all staff would observe the silence together, describing the moment as an opportunity “to reflect, to honour and to remember all those who served.”

Remembrance Sunday falls on the second Sunday in November each year. The national silence begins at 11am and lasts two minutes — a tradition marked by the National Service of Remembrance at the Cenotaph in Whitehall, London, where guns fired by the King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery signal both the start and end of the silence.

The national service commemorates British and Commonwealth military and civilian personnel involved in the two world wars and later conflicts, according to the UK Government.
