Kent Police issue new image in cold case murder of unidentified baby found in Ashford

Detectives have released a computer-generated image of a woman as part of a renewed appeal for information into the murder of an unidentified baby girl, known as “Baby April”, whose body was found in Ashford more than 30 years ago.

Kent Police have issued the updated image in an effort to identify the woman depicted, who detectives believe may be connected to the case. The baby’s body was discovered in Ashford in the mid-1990s, and despite a murder investigation being launched at the time, neither the child nor her parents were ever formally identified. No one has been charged in connection with the case.

The computer-generated image is a composite e-fit produced from witness information and footage, intended to help identify a woman seen at the grave of Baby April. The renewed appeal forms part of an ongoing cold case investigation drawing on advances in forensic science and imaging.

“Baby April” is the operational name used by Kent Police for the unidentified victim. The case has remained open, and detectives are asking anyone who recognises the woman in the image, or who has any relevant recollection from the 1990s, to come forward.
