Eight people were dispersed and eight bicycles seized at Ellington Park, Ramsgate, on 23 July 2026 after months of reported antisocial behaviour targeting park users and staff.
Kent Police sent plain-clothed officers into Ellington Park on 23 July, backed by uniformed patrols, after a string of complaints between May and July 2026 about groups using bikes to intimidate. Officers dispersed eight suspected troublemakers, handed each of them an Acceptable Behaviour Agreement, and took every one of the bikes away.
The complaints made for grim reading. Teenagers verbally abusing staff and members of the public. Climbing on the roof of the bandstand. Cycling at speed past pedestrians in a way that left people genuinely rattled — and damage to the on-site café thrown in for good measure.
Rich Batten, Inspector at the Thanet Community Safety Unit, said officers would not tolerate behaviour that spoiled public spaces. He added that the power to seize items — including bicycles — suspected of being used antisocially remained available to officers, and that anyone riding responsibly was welcome to use the park.
Kent Police said enforcement would continue if further reports came in.
