A 59-year-old man has been charged with possessing an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence after armed officers responded to reports of a threat in Maidstone’s Mote Park, according to Kent Police.
Clive Farquharson, of no fixed address, is accused of threatening a group of people with a weapon at Mote Park on the afternoon of Saturday 11 July. Kent Police received calls reporting the incident and armed officers attended. Members of the public informed officers on arrival that the suspect had already left the scene, and an imitation firearm was recovered.
Farquharson was arrested shortly afterwards following further enquiries by officers.
He appeared at Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court on Monday 13 July, where he was remanded in custody. His next court appearance is at Maidstone Crown Court, with a hearing listed for 10 August 2026.
He faces a single charge of possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.
