Francisco Tsumba, 45, of no fixed address, has been remanded in custody after a man in his early 50s was allegedly stabbed and had his white Sprinter van stolen in Reculver Walk, Maidstone, on 18 July 2026.
Kent Police charged Francisco Tsumba, 45, of no fixed address, with attempted murder and taking a vehicle without consent after the alleged assault in Reculver Walk, Maidstone, at 7.44am on Saturday 18 July 2026. It is alleged the victim — described as in his early 50s — suffered injuries consistent with stab wounds, with his white Sprinter van also taken during the incident.
South East Coast Ambulance Service treated him at the scene. He was then airlifted to a London hospital, though has since been discharged. Officers later found the van in Woolley Road and recovered a knife in Reculver Walk. Armed officers arrested Tsumba later that morning in Swanscombe.
Tsumba appeared at Maidstone Magistrates’ Court on Monday 20 July 2026 and was remanded in custody. He is next due to appear at Maidstone Crown Court on 17 August 2026.
Police are appealing for witnesses who have not yet spoken to officers. Motorists with dashcam footage and residents with private CCTV covering Reculver Walk or the surrounding area are asked to check their recordings for anything relevant.
