Medway Council’s 2025–2028 Climate Change Action Plan aims to cut greenhouse gas emissions and build resilience against the effects of a changing climate.
Medway Council has published a Climate Change Action Plan covering 2025 to 2028, setting out its ambition to reach net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 — alongside measures to make the area more resilient to a warming world.
The council first declared a climate emergency in April 2019. The latest plan sits under the One Medway Council Plan 2024 to 2028, specifically under the priority of “enjoying clean, green, safe and connected communities”.
The council argues local climate action can deliver real benefits for residents: lower household bills, better health and wellbeing, reduced congestion and stronger communities. It also points to cleaner air and water, healthier soil, food security and job creation as potential gains.
Residents can sign up for a climate change newsletter through the council’s website and find information about community work, public events and ways to get involved locally.
