Medway Council sets out health and wellbeing support through A Better Medway

Medway Council’s A Better Medway service brings together NHS health checks, stop-smoking support, walking, cycling and a free 12-week lifestyle programme in one online hub.

Medway Council is pointing residents towards free local health services through its A Better Medway page — a single online hub pulling together everything from stop-smoking support to structured fitness programmes.

The centrepiece is Healthy Way, a free 12-week programme aimed at helping people move towards a healthier lifestyle. There’s also signposting to NHS health checks and local stop-smoking services, with extra push given to the latter around Stoptober. The hub brings together a range of free and low-cost options in one place.

Walking gets a fair amount of space on the page. Promoted as free, good for both mental and physical health, and a decent way to meet people, it’s offered in two forms: self-guided routes and organised health walks. Cycling groups are listed along similar lines — exercise with a social element thrown in.

Over-55s are directed to Thrive from 55, described as a marketplace of support, services and activities for that age group. Employers aren’t forgotten either, with workplace health support available to help improve staff wellbeing.

Residents can sign up to the A Better Medway newsletter for updates on services and local events.
