An unmarked Kent Police car responding to a fatal crash in Tilmanstone was involved in a collision with a blue Nissan Qashqai on the M20 coastbound carriageway between Junctions 8 and 9 shortly after 11pm on 14 September 2026, with all three occupants of the Qashqai taken to hospital as a precaution.

Kent Police are appealing for witnesses after one of their unmarked patrol cars was involved in a collision with a Nissan Qashqai on the M20 near Charing just after 11pm on Monday 14 September 2026. The blue Skoda Octavia had its lights and siren in use — it was responding to a separate fatal collision in Tilmanstone — when it was involved in a collision with the blue Qashqai, which was travelling in the same direction on the coastbound carriageway between Junctions 8 and 9. The collision happened in lane 2.

According to Kent Police, no serious injuries were reported. The three people in the Qashqai were taken to a local hospital as a precaution.

Police want to trace the driver of an HGV with a white trailer that was reported to be in lane 1 at the time of the collision. Officers are keen to locate and speak to that driver as part of their enquiries.

Anyone with dashcam footage from that stretch of the M20 around that time is also asked to come forward. You can upload footage through Kent Police’s online portal, speak to someone via live chat on the Kent Police website, or call 01843 222289 directly. Quote reference 14-1910.
