Croft Race 1

Josh Cook claimed victory in Race 1 of Round 22 of the British Touring Car Championship at Croft Circuit, Dalton-on-Tees, North Yorkshire, on 6 September 2026. Driving for Speedworks Corolla Racing, Cook led from lights to flag in heavily rain-affected conditions to take the top step of the podium. Ashley Sutton completed the podium in second place, with Tom Ingram classified third following post-race time penalties that reshaped the final order.

Cook’s victory was commanding in its execution, the Speedworks Corolla Racing driver controlling proceedings throughout the wet race to finish in a time of 23:05.853. Ashley Sutton crossed the line 0.377 seconds adrift in second place. The race’s defining controversy centred on Tom Ingram and Dan Cammish, both of whom received five-second penalties for track-limit infringements. Ingram had, on fading wet tyres, overtaken both NAPA Racing Fords to cross the finish line first on the road; however, his penalty ultimately demoted him to third, 2.416 seconds behind Cook on corrected time. Cammish, similarly penalised, was classified fourth, finishing 6.711 seconds behind the race winner.

Ricky Collard brought his car home in fifth place, finishing 15.164 seconds behind Cook, while Aiden Moffat took sixth. A notable anomaly in the classified order saw Charles Rainford classified seventh despite recording a time of 23:24.362, which placed him ahead of Daniel Rowbottom in eighth on 23:35.055 and Mikey Doble in ninth on 23:35.314 — a discrepancy consistent with the official classification as issued. Tom Chilton rounded out the top-ten finishers in eleventh position, with Nick Halstead the sole retirement of note, classified as a non-finisher in the official results.

Cook’s lights-to-flag success at Croft represents a significant result for Speedworks Corolla Racing, demonstrating the team’s pace and composure in challenging wet-weather conditions. The penalties imposed on Ingram and Cammish, both identified as title contenders, will have implications for the championship picture as the season progresses. With two further races at Croft Circuit remaining on the weekend’s schedule, all parties will be eager to consolidate or recover ground before the next round of the championship.
