Dover suspect charged as district vehicle crime operation continues

The announcement follows a pattern of enforcement activity in the Dover area. In October 2025, Kent Police’s Rural Task Force and partner agencies carried out a vehicle crime intensification operation at the Port of Dover, conducting 394 vehicle stop checks over several days. Officers seized suspected stolen vehicles and machinery valued at an estimated £350,000, including a stolen engine, an excavator, trailers and six suspected stolen cars recovered near Gravesend. Two men were arrested in connection with those seizures.

In a separate Dover case reported in early 2026, a 23-year-old man was arrested and charged after allegedly stealing from 16 cars on Lower Road, Dover, in a single night. He faced 17 charges, pleaded guilty at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court and received a five-month custodial sentence, according to regional reporting based on Kent Police information.

Kent Police works alongside Port of Dover Police, the National Vehicle Crime Intelligence Service and the National Construction and Agricultural Theft Team on operations targeting vehicle theft in the district. The Port of Dover, one of the UK’s principal roll-on roll-off ports, is a significant location for such enforcement given its role as a route for vehicle traffic between Britain and mainland Europe.
