Altin Shehu, 34, was acquitted of murder but convicted of manslaughter at Maidstone Crown Court after Vladimirs Perminovs died following a stabbing in Gravesend in August 2025.
Shehu was found guilty on 6 November 2026, after a trial at Maidstone Crown Court. Perminovs had suffered multiple stab wounds during a confrontation in a Gravesend alleyway on 12 August 2025 and was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at hospital. A man and a woman who faced the same murder charge were found not guilty.
It started, as these things often do, over money. A group arranged to meet at a property in St Augustine Road, Gravesend — and within minutes of arriving, the confrontation had spilled into a nearby alleyway. A neighbour filmed it on a mobile phone. That footage helped police identify Shehu, and forensic examination of discarded clothing found blood matching him.
He fled to Albania. Located, arrested, extradited in May 2026. Then stood trial.
Detective Sergeant James Dolby, of Kent Police, said the investigation had involved extensive enquiries and that the verdict should bring some measure of justice and closure to those affected.
