Donington Park GP Race 3

Adam Morgan claimed victory in Race 3 of the British Touring Car Championship at Donington Park, Castle Donington, on Sunday, 23 August 2026, to complete a dominant double on the day. Morgan, driving for the Cataclean Plato Racing squad, crossed the line in a time of 22:16.784, with Aiden Moffat taking second place 2.813 seconds adrift. Daryl DeLeon completed the podium in third, a further 0.620 seconds behind Moffat, to round off a closely contested battle for the final rostrum positions.

The reverse-grid draw placed Chris Smiley on pole position, with Morgan lining up directly behind him. Smiley held the lead through the opening corner, but Morgan wasted little time in applying pressure and moved to the front during the first lap. Smiley was subsequently forced to retire from the race in the pit lane, leaving Morgan to pull clear of the field and control proceedings with considerable authority. Behind the race leader, Moffat drove a composed and accomplished race to secure second, while DeLeon produced a forceful late charge in his BMW to snatch third from his rivals. The gap between second and third at the flag stood at just 0.620 seconds, underlining the intensity of the contest for the remaining podium places.

Árón Taylor-Smith crossed the line in fourth position, finishing 7.048 seconds behind the race winner, with Charles Rainford taking fifth in 22:26.580. Gordon Shedden followed closely in sixth, separated from Rainford by a mere 0.038 seconds at the flag — one of the tightest margins across the entire top ten. Ashley Sutton, identified in the TheSportsDB race description as the current championship leader, fought through a competitive pack to finish eighth, with Josh Cook seventh and Tom Ingram ninth, the trio covered by less than half a second between them.

Morgan’s victory — his second of the day at Donington Park — represents a significant statement of intent for the Cataclean Plato Racing operation, with the double result certain to bolster the team’s championship momentum as the 2026 season progresses. DeLeon’s podium finish in his BMW will similarly provide encouragement for his campaign, while Moffat’s second place underlines the consistency he has shown throughout the day. With the BTCC field set to reconvene at the next round of the season, all eyes will be on whether Morgan can sustain the form that made him the standout performer at Castle Donington.
