Man charged with attempted murder after van driver stabbed in Maidstone street robbery
A 45-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder after a van driver in his early 50s suffered serious stab wounds during an alleged robbery in Reculver Walk, Maidstone, on 18 July 2026.
Kent Police announced the charge after officers were called to Reculver Walk at 7.44am on Saturday 18 July 2026. The victim — a van driver in his early 50s — sustained serious stab wounds during what is alleged to have been a robbery involving two men, who then took his white Sprinter van.
South East Coast Ambulance Service treated the victim at the scene before he was taken to a London hospital, where his condition was described as serious but stable. The stolen van was later located in Woolley Road, Maidstone, and a knife was recovered in Reculver Walk.
Armed officers arrested a 45-year-old man in Swanscombe, Kent, in connection with the incident. He was subsequently charged with attempted murder following a Crown Prosecution Service review.
Attempted murder is an indictable offence prosecuted in the Crown Court and carries a potential life sentence upon conviction.
